I understand fully that the law directly precludes NHSTA from requiring auto manufacturers to provide this information but I wonder what incentives could be used to encourage an energy star type rating star to be affixed to the tires of a new car. It probably is more critical to do it at that juncture than for replacement tires. And this is a loophole that I would hope be enclosed in any future greenhouse gas legislation coming out of Congress.

Hopefully consumers will use the ratings and demand the info on the other tires to make informed decisions
